Participants will learn essential skills for climbing on real rock, including climbing knots, belaying/lowering, movement fundamentals, and standard communication. The course emphasizes hands-on learning, clear progressions, and good habits for continued growth as a climber.

Itinerary

Pre-Course:

  • Check gear fit and confirm meeting location and logistics.

Field Day:

  • Introductions, gear check, and safety overview
  • Knots, harness setup, and belay instruction
  • Top-rope climbing and belaying practice
  • Movement fundamentals and footwork on real rock
  • Top rope anchors and anchor cleaning
  • Further Practice on all covered topics
  • Debrief, Q&A, and next steps for personal progression
What to Bring

Clothing & Gear:

  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate outdoor clothing
  • Closed-toe approach shoes or light hiking shoes
  • Climbing shoes
  • Food and water for a full day outside
  • Daypack (Must fit all required equipment. We recommend >20L.)

Technical Equipment:

  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Belay device (tube-style or assisted-braking)
  • 2 locking carabiners
  • Personal Anchor System or Double Length Sling
