Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue program

This course provides hands-on training in essential crevasse rescue skills for climbers and skiers traveling on glaciated terrain. Participants will learn critical techniques for self- and team-rescue, including rope team travel, crevasse fall arrest, and rescue systems.

Intro to Lead Climbing

This course is designed for climbers ready to take the next step from top-rope climbing to leading routes outdoors. Participants will learn the essential skills and decision-making strategies for safely leading sport climbs, including clipping technique, route reading, safe falling, building/cleaning anchors, and lead belaying. The focus is on developing sound judgement, good habits and confidence for lead climbing on bolted routes.

Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing

This course introduces new climbers to the fundamentals of outdoor rock climbing in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Participants will learn essential skills for climbing on real rock, including climbing knots, belaying/lowering, movement fundamentals, and standard communication. The course emphasizes hands-on learning, clear progressions, and good habits for continued growth as a climber.

Multipitch Climbing

This two-day course is designed for climbers ready to expand their skills to multi pitch routes. Participants will learn the strategy, techniques, and efficiency needed to climb multi-pitch routes safely and smoothly. Instruction focuses on managing rope systems, belaying from above, anchor transitions, and descent strategies - all practiced with an emphasis on sound judgment and self-sufficiency.

Intro to Trad Climbing

This two-day course introduces climbers to the core skills and decision-making involved in traditional (trad) climbing. Participants will learn about various types of traditional climbing gear, their placement, anchor construction, route assessment, and the fundamentals of leading on gear. The emphasis is on building confidence and competence in a controlled, supportive learning environment.

About Me

My name is Tom Skoog. I'm a lifelong Seattleite who has spent much of my life skiing and climbing throughout the Cascade Range. Growing up, I was incredibly fortunate to benefit from quality mentorship in the outdoors--an experience I believe everyone deserves access to.

To me, climbing is an art--a unique blend of place, people, and our individual interpretations of adventure. Each climber brings their own perspective, creating something entirely their own. At the same time, the skills required for climbing are more like a craft. With the right guidance and consistent, mindful practice, anyone can master them.

That's where I come in. My goal is to help you build a rock-solid foundation of climbing skills so you can confidently create your own adventure. Let's get started!
